A native of Marianna, Arkansas, Reverend Albert Moses Shears grew up in the church. He graduated from Anna M.P. Strong High School with honors and went on to attend the University of Arkansas (The former A.M&N College) at Pine Bluff where he received his Bachelor’s degree. Continuing his education after he was called to the ministry, Reverend Shears matriculated at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminar in Evanston, Illinois where he earned a Master of Divinity Degree.

With more than 30 years serving the Lord; he is the former pastor of South Deering, Vincent, Maple Park and Greater Inglewood Parish United Methodist Churches. Additionally, he was a member of the Board of Ordained Ministry and an Elder in the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church. He is also the former president of the Greater Grand Crossing Organizing Committee, and former president of the Board of Developing Communities Project (Faith-based Community Organizations).

Reverend Shears is a humble man and a servant of God. He is currently the pastor of Burnside Community Baptist Church where he has served for more than 13 years. Reverend Shears is a family man and a true role model who has been married to Carolyn Shears for more than 45 years. God has blessed them with four children, Carlos, Marlon, Katundra, and Derrick and four grandchildren.
