Ushers

Ushers Board

“I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.” -Psalms 84:10 (ESV)

The ministry of ushering is a vital part of worship. Ushers are some of the most visible people in the church and are often the first people attendees encounter upon entering the church. They make people feel welcome, assist Pastors and teachers, assist with seating, collect offering, and help maintain a safe environment. Ushers ensure that programs and other materials are available upon member and guest arrival. They are called to extend Christ’s love and ensure that people see and experience that love. Their duties include:

⦁    Welcoming people to church
⦁    Preparing and distributing programs
⦁    Directing people to their seats
⦁    Remaining alert to available seating
⦁    Offering parents information about Children’s Church
⦁    Helping maintain a comfortable and safe environment
⦁    Managing traffic flow of guests during worship
⦁    Politely providing instruction and guidance
⦁    Maintaining order during worship
⦁    Collecting, sorting and securing offering
⦁    Assisting Pastors during worship
⦁    Ushering at BCBC homegoing (funeral) services, programs and weddings
⦁    Providing usher and emergency evacuation training
